CHICOPEE – Robert R. “Bob” Phelps, 66, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 27, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all of the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on March 11, 1960, a beloved son of the late Herbert A. and Martha M. (Stevens) Phelps. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School in 1978 and had lived in Granby before returning to Chicopee in 2002. He was employed as Product Developer at Spalding Sports Worldwide in Chicopee and had later worked at the Chicopee Country Club and the Chicopee City Flood Control. During his leisure times, he enjoyed dabbling in many things. He was passionate about automobiles, trains and music. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving sister, Anna M. Schmitt of Granby; his cherished nephew, Michael A. Schmitt and his wife, Brittani of Chicopee; his cherished niece, Jamie L. Schmitt and her partner, Anthony Burgeson, of Chicopee; and his many dear extended family members and friends. His family will host a Celebration of Life Service for Bob at a later date. His Burial will be private. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
