Obituary



Liberino Coccoluto, of Saugus, passed away on Wednesday, April 15th. He was 92. Born in Gaeta, Italy, he was the cherished son of the late Antonio and Giuseppina (Viola) Coccoluto. Liberino emigrated to the United States from Gaeta, Italy in 1948 at the age of 15 alongside his father. They settled in Somerville, where he attended school and began building the life he was so proud of. Liberino enlisted into the United States Army in the spring on 1954 serving during the Korean War. He was a cook for the Army which gave him the opportunity to travel throughout Europe.

Liberino was a dedicated family man. He worked tirelessly to support his family. He loved his children and was proud of their accomplishments, but when it came to his grandchildren and great grandchildren they were his world. Liberino loved to garden and spent hours tending to his vegetables. He always would deliver tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more to his family and friends.

Liberino was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Mangone) Coccoluto. He was the devoted father of John Coccoluto and his wife Patricia, Marie Tuccelli and her husband Paul, Joseph Coccoluto and his wife Ellen, and the late Anthony Coccoluto and his surviving wife Arlene. He was the loving Nonno of Christopher, Marissa, Matthew, Nicole, Ariana, Nicholas, Adam, Briana, Ryan and Lauren. He was the caring Bisnonno of Siena, Emilia, Roman and Nathan. He was the dear brother of Cosmo of Italy, and the late Vittoria and the late Pasquale. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, April 23rd from 4 to 7 PM, and again on Friday, April 24th at 8:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Liberino’s name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306
