
Worcester – Jadwiga T. “Terry” (Subocz) Ortiz, 76, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in Milford Gardens after an illness.
Terry was married for 45 years to the late Jose E. Ortiz who passed away in 2018. She is survived by her three children, Joseph Ortiz of Worcester, Ramona Gallant of Brookfield and Christina Ortiz and her husband, John Dotson of Barre; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Howard, Joseph Ortiz, Charles Gallant, Lucas Gallant, Rozalynn Soares, Selena Dotson and Jordan Dotson; 6 great grandchildren; an aunt, Helena Kozakiewicz and cousins, Maria Hynes, Teresa Nawrotek and Barbara Davies.
Terry was born in Rezal, Poland daughter of the late, Michael and Jadwiga (Mackiewicz) Subocz and is also predeceased by a son in law, Michael Gallant; a brother, Richard Subocz and a great grandchild, Dominic Gallant.
Terry worked for the City of Worcester for over 20 years as a crossing guard and was a staple at her intersection of Wall and Grafton Streets where she greeted the kids every day from Grafton Street Elementary School.
Terry enjoyed tending to her plants, taking trips to the beach, especially Old Orchard Beach and Florida but she was truly the happiest when she was able to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
