David E. Chapman, age 68, passed away on April 12, 2026 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on June 5, 1957 in Springfield, son of the late Edward Chapman and Barbara (Blake) Chapman. David was a communicant of St Cecilia’s Church in Wilbraham. He worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for Mass Mutual for over 25 years before he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed going on hunting trips to Oak Creek Whitetail Ranch. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Valerie A. (Stec) Chapman of Wilbraham; one brother Phillip Chapman and his wife Linda of East Longmeadow and his wonderful dog, Buddy. He also leaves brother-in-law Wayne Stec and his wife Terri of Chicopee; brother-in-law Paul Stec of Chicopee; Sister-in-law Rebecca Fennessey of Northampton. Nephews Christopher Chapman (Godson) and his wife Meg of Medfield; Brian Chapman of Hampden; Keith Fennessey of Northampton, Randy Anderson-Stec (Godson) and his wife Martha of Agawam. Nieces, Tamara Livingstone and her husband Sean of Chicopee; Tiffany Edwards and her husband Alan of Chicopee and many friends who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 17th, 1:00 PM at St Cecilia’s Church, 42 Main St, Wilbraham, MA, followed by burial in St Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee.
