Lina (Valente) Saragosa, age 89, of Medford passed away on Saturday, April 11th, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born and raised in Cassino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Elisabetta (Tortolano) Valente. Lina immigrated to the US in 1957, and was employed as a seamstress. After retirement, she made and repaired clothing for everyone in the family. Lina also enjoyed gardening and cooking for family gatherings, and was a true farm-to-table chef.
Lina was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Saragosa, and the devoted mother of Elizabeth Newhall and her husband Jim, Diane Creedon and her husband Sean, Linda Moreno, Anthony D. Saragosa and his wife Jennifer, and John Saragosa and his wife Kate. She was the loving grandmother of Kyle Newhall and his life-partner Samantha, Danielle Newhall, Michelle Creedon, Patrick Creedon, Milina Kirkman and her husband Andrew, Keith Moreno, Olivia Saragosa, Anna Saragosa, Catherine Saragosa, Adam Saragosa and Leah Saragosa. Lina was the loving great grandmother of Scarlett, Violet and Rome, and the dear sister of the late Maria, Giulia and Angela. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews in the US and Italy.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, April 16th from 4 to 8 PM, and again on Friday, April 17th at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
