LOWELL—Thomas P. Gill, 87 years old, died September 7th, at the Town and Country Nursing Home, in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Cormier) Gill, who died in November of 2001.
He was born in Lowell, on February 25, 1915, a son of the late Thomas F. and Ellen (McDermott) Gill and was a graduate of Bartlett Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mr. Gill was a U.S. Army Veteran during World War II. He was wounded in France, in October of 1944 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He owned and operated Gill’s Variety Store for many years with his wife, and was also employed as a Painter by the City of Lowell. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and held membership in the American Legion, Post #87.
Surviving him are a daughter and son-in-law: Judith and Cecil Patrick of Goffstown, NH; a brother: John J. Gill, of Lowell; a sister: Helen O’Hearn, of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Walter, Marion and Joseph Gill.
Funeral Tuesday morning, September 10th, at 11 AM at ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH. Friends may call from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday morning. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
