LEICESTER: Henry G. "Hank" Wood,68, of 1075 Main St.,died Thursday, Sept. 14
at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Carolyn A. (Grant) Wood, four sons Thomas P.
Wood and his wife Kristi of Cherry Valley, Paul E. Wood and his wife Dianne
of Keller, Tx., Scott A. Wood and his companion Linda Morse of Uxbridge and
Keith W. Wood and his wife Jachelle of Grapevine, Tx., a daughter Tammy Jean
Holmes of Worcester, two brothers John Wood of Bonita Springs, Fl. and
Donald Wood of Cherry Valley, 12 grand children, many nieces and nephews. He
is predeceased by two brothers Robert and George Wood.
Mr. Wood was a truckdriver for the Leicester Highway Dept. for 18 years,
retiring in 1991. Previously he worked at the former Cherry Valley Builders
& Supply.
He graduated from Leicester High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was
a longtime member and two time Commander of the Cherry Valley American
Legion Post 443, where he devoted his life to over the past 10 years. He was
a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4528 in Leicester, and was a
former Leicester Firefighter and at onetime, a part time policeman in Town.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Truman and Margaret (McCarthy) Wood.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16 from the MORRISON-MORIN
FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10a.m. in St. Joseph's
Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley
Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 15 from 5 to 8p.m. In lieu of
