Yvette D. (Therien) Tjersland, 82, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Our Lady's Haven. She was the wife of Olav Tjersland, they shared 44 years of marriage.
Mrs. Tjersland was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Ovila L. and Laura (Fortin) Therien and had been a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to retirement, she worked as a teacher for the New Bedford Public School System. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and cooking. She loved animals, especially her dogs.
Survivors along with her husband include her nieces and nephew: Deborah Dickerson, Micheal Everett, Lori Hilman, Nancy Everett; and a grandchild: Kirstin Tjersland.
She was the sister of the late Claire Everett.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Kirby Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, April 17th from 10-11:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
