Obituary

Anne M. Minor, 79, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2nd in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. She leaves her sister, Kathleen Hennessy and her husband, Thomas; her brother, Stephen Minor and his wife, Mary; her nieces, Katie (Minor) Kheel, Meredith Hennessy and her husband, Louis Stifter, Allyson Hennessy and her husband, Michael Russo; her nephew, Stephen Minor and his wife, Courtney as well as grandnieces, Sabrina Kheel, Audrey and Charlotte Stifter, Kyleigh Giammanco, McKayla Russo and grandnephew, Cillian Minor. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet Rowe and her husband, Jim; and grandniece, Alexis Hennessy.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of the late Francis and Wilma (Conrad) Minor. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School and earned her undergraduate degree from Boston State College and her Master of Education degree from Suffolk University. During her college years, she spent summers working on Martha’s Vineyard with family and friends.
Anne worked at General Motors in Framingham before moving to Gary Indiana Dunes to pursue a career working for the union in the Steel Mills. She also worked at Purdue and Valparaiso University’s.
While in Indiana, Anne became politically active and worked as the campaign manager for the late Jim Jontz at the House of Representatives.
Anne returned to her beloved Cape Cod and lived in Hyannis for many years. She had many interests including taking dancing lessons, gardening, crafts, painting and baking.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary Healthcare for their compassion and care Anne received over that last 18 months.
Visitation will be Friday, April 10th from 10: 00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, followed by a service in the funeral home at NOON. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Anne’s life was a reflection of kindness and compassion. In her honor, the family asks that you carry that forward by performing a random act of kindness in her memory. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Healthcare Center, c/o Activities Department, 39 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
