
Rudolph Bodden Stewart (84) of Boston passed away on March 27, 2026, at Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Annie Ziegler-Stewart.
He was born in La Ceiba, Honduras, the son of the late Thomas Edison Bodden and Violet Stewart-Brown.
Affectionately known as “Papi” or “Poopsie” to his friends and loved ones, Rudy was a skilled diesel mechanic and a true jack of all trades. He was talented in many areas, including painting, plumbing, and construction, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. As the eldest of his siblings, Rudy played a pivotal role in his family’s journey, becoming the first to migrate to the United States with his then-wife, Zonia Heath. Through his determination and sacrifice, he later brought his mother to the United States, setting in motion a chain of family members following in his footsteps, ultimately helping to establish his family’s roots here.
Rudy was a devoted father and family man. He is survived by his children, Norma Jean Stewart Heath, Rudolph Stewart (also known as “Cachi”), Ricky Heath, Kim Lyles, Jackie Fletcher, Catherine Simmons, Federica Bethany, and Sherry Baldwin. He was the father of the late Timmy Stewart.
He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Steward, Laura Brown, Norma Brown, Rose Brown, Debra Brown, Freddy Brown, and Bobe Bodden. He was predeceased by his siblings, Clifford “Dingy” Bodden, Sarah Brown, Rosario Brown, Carlitos Brown, and Elvia Bodden.
Rudy leaves behind a large and loving legacy, including 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Church, 471 Warren Street, Dorchester. Burial to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, 427 Cummins Highway, Boston.
