
Wilfred ”Buster” Svenson, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, MA on Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2026. He was 92 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on September 26, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Wilfred and Eleanor (Ormsby) Svenson. He was preceded in death by his dear sister Janet and her husband Carl Wetterberg.
He was a graduate of the Punchard High School in Andover and was a US Navy veteran, entering the military at Boston in November 1951. He received his honorable discharge from Long Beach, California in November 1955. He was a Radio Man 3rd class. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the China Service Medal for his exemplary service.
He is survived by his children; Sherry (Svenson) Lockley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robert and his wife Rosi Svenson of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Richard and his wife Pamela Svenson of Salem, New Hampshire and Christina (Svenson) and her husband Thomas Cohen of Charlotte, North Carolina. Along with eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his sister Jean “Dottie” and her husband Robert “Spike” Arnold of Sitka, Alaska and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed.
