With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son, grandfather, and family pillar, Hector Efrain Velásquez Estacuy.
Hector was a devoted husband, sharing over 57 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Hilda. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family, and were truly inseparable. He was also a loving father and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren, whom he raised and loved deeply and unconditionally. He lovingly helped raise his youngest grandchild for the past three years alongside his wife, Hilda. The bond they shared was truly special and filled with love. During his final years, he especially cherished visits from his grandchildren and family.
He was also a dedicated son who held deep love and respect for his parents. As the oldest of four brothers, Hector carried a strong sense of responsibility, always leading with quiet strength, guidance, and care. He was a cherished nephew, cousin, and uncle, and his love extended throughout his entire family.
A man of deep faith, Hector attended church throughout his life and dedicated himself to serving God. He walked the straight and narrow path, guided by his devotion, and his life reflected kindness, humility, and compassion. He touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit.
Hector had a deep love for music. He especially loved playing his guitar, using it to bring joy and comfort to those around him. He also had a passion for fixing things and working on cars, always finding satisfaction in using his hands to repair and restore. He was someone who could always be counted on to help, to fix, and to care. He also had a special love for dogs and animals and found peace in caring for the many birds he fed outside his home, especially the hummingbirds, which now serve as a gentle reminder of him to his family whenever they are seen.
Hector also held a deep love for his roots and his family. He cherished visiting his family in Guatemala and remained closely connected to his heritage. Living in Ojai brought him comfort, as the surrounding mountains reminded him of his childhood home and the places he loved most. He also enjoyed visiting loved ones on the East Coast, where he lived prior to moving to California.
A true warrior, Hector overcame cancer not once, but twice. Through his strength and faith, he was blessed with nearly ten additional years that became a priceless gift to his family. These years gave us memories we will forever hold close.
Hector will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering faith, and the love he gave so freely. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing he is now at peace—perhaps playing his guitar and singing while watching over us with the same love he gave in life.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Con gran tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestro amado padre, esposo, hijo, abuelo y pilar de la familia, Hector Efraín Velásquez Estacuy.
Hector fue un esposo devoto que compartió más de 57 años de matrimonio con su amada esposa, Hilda. Juntos construyeron una vida basada en el amor, la fe y la familia, y fueron verdaderamente inseparables. También fue un padre amoroso y un abuelo orgulloso, cuya mayor alegría en la vida fue su familia. Nada le daba más felicidad que pasar tiempo con sus nietos, a quienes ayudó a criar y amó profunda e incondicionalmente. Con mucho amor, ayudó a criar a su nieto más pequeño durante los últimos tres años junto a su esposa, Hilda. El vínculo que compartían era verdaderamente especial y lleno de amor. Durante sus últimos años, atesoró especialmente las visitas de sus nietos y su familia.
También fue un hijo dedicado que siempre mostró un profundo amor y respeto por sus padres. Como el mayor de cuatro hermanos, Hector llevó con orgullo un gran sentido de responsabilidad, guiando siempre con fortaleza, cuidado y ejemplo. Fue un querido sobrino, primo y tío, y su amor se extendía a toda su familia.
Hombre de profunda fe, Hector asistió a la iglesia durante toda su vida y dedicó su vida a servir a Dios. Caminó siempre por el camino recto, guiado por su devoción, y su vida reflejó bondad, humildad y compasión. Tocó la vida de muchos con su espíritu noble y gentil.
Hector tenía un gran amor por la música. Disfrutaba especialmente tocar la guitarra, con la cual llevaba alegría y consuelo a quienes lo rodeaban. También tenía pasión por arreglar cosas y trabajar en sus carros, encontrando satisfacción en usar sus manos para reparar y restaurar. Siempre fue una persona en quien se podía confiar para ayudar, arreglar y cuidar. Asimismo, tenía un amor especial por los perros y los animales, y encontraba paz al cuidar de las aves que alimentaba fuera de su hogar, especialmente los colibríes, que hoy en día sirven como un hermoso recordatorio de él para su familia cada vez que los ven.
Hector también mantenía un profundo amor por sus raíces y su familia. Disfrutaba visitar a su familia en Guatemala y siempre se mantuvo conectado con su herencia. Vivir en Ojai le brindaba consuelo, ya que las montañas le recordaban a su hogar, su niñez y a los lugares que tanto amaba. También disfrutaba visitar a sus seres queridos en la costa este, donde vivió antes de mudarse a California.
Un verdadero guerrero, Hector venció el cáncer no una, sino dos veces. Gracias a su fortaleza y fe, fue bendecido con casi diez años más de vida—un tiempo que se convirtió en un regalo invaluable para su familia. Esos años nos dejaron recuerdos que siempre llevaremos en el corazón.
Hector será recordado por su bondad, su fe inquebrantable y el amor que entregó sin medida. Aunque nuestros corazones están rotos, encontramos consuelo al saber que ahora descansa en paz—quizás tocando su guitarra y cantando mientras nos cuida con el mismo amor que nos dio en vida.
Lo extrañaremos profundamente, lo amaremos por siempre y nunca será olvidado.
