Ennio Dell'Ovo, age 80, of Boston passed away on Thursday, February 26th, at Brigham & Women's Hospital of Boston. Born in Sparanise, Italy to Vittorio and Antonietta (Monfreda) Dell’Ovo, one of a trio of triplet boys, Ennio immigrated to the US with his six siblings and parents in 1962. He settled in Boston’s South End where he made a beautiful life for himself for many years.
Ennio was a small business owner of the beloved Romano’s Bakery on Charles Street where he welcomed everyone with open arms as if they were family. Ennio was truly one of a kind. He had a way about him that commanded your attention, but also a presence that exuded love. He was always the first to tell it like it was, as well as the first to give a compliment and a hug. If you were lucky enough to have been able to call Ennio a friend, a brother, an uncle, you were guaranteed to have someone in your corner through thick and thin.
Ennio was full of life and brought energy to any room he entered. He would be the first to step in (always unsolicited) to help out in the kitchen during the holidays or to take center stage on the dance floor at a wedding. Ennio was a man of many talents, from gardening to baking (honestly the man was a genius baker!) to cooking, crafting, photography, and even barbering. He was truly a renaissance man and a self-taught artist. Ennio loved to shower the people in his life with love and gifts and was truly the most generous person. To be loved by Ennio was to feel seen, and without him we will all feel a tremendous void.
Ennio was the dear brother of Joe Dell'Ovo and his partner Debbi, Aldo Dell'Ovo and his wife Arlene, Ernesto Dell'Ovo and his wife Ida, the late Tina Onorato and her husband Peter, the late Frank Dell'Ovo and his wife Annette, and the late Lina Vecchio. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. At his family’s request, all services for Ennio were private.
