Obituary

Joseph L. Pilosa, Jr., 79, of Seven Mile Road, Cranston, passed away on Sunday March 29th, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Elissa A. (Dansereau) Pilosa. They had been married for 21 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph L. and Eleanor L. (Palumbo) Pilosa. He had lived in Cranston previously living in Providence.

Joseph, affectionately known as Joe, was the President and proprietor of Ocean State Transfer. He was also President of Western Hills Crematory. He had been a Teamster and worked at Wayne Distributors before retiring.

Joe loved a good cigar, a good meal at Marchetti’s, his horses, Mason and Murphy and his cat, Starline.

Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Deborah Pilosa of Foster. He was the son-in-law of Sophie Petrella of Johnston, brother-in-law of Janine Dansereau of Cranston, Michael Petrella and is wife Jessica of Cranston, John Dansereau of Cranston, Jody Petrella of Johnston and James Petrella of Johnston. He was the father of Marc Pilosa of Cranston. He was the grandfather of Marc Maxwell of Coventry. He was the father of the late Jason Pilosa and brother-in-law of the late Steven Dansereau.

He also leaves Olivia and Talia Petrella “his girls”, Vanessa Dansereau “Nessa Dew “, Jessica Dansereau “Little Jess” and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 4th from 9:30am to 12:30pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to RISPCA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886
