
Donald J. Sullivan, age 87, a resident of Tewksbury for 30 years, formerly of Stoneham and Somerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lowell General Hospital on Friday, March 27, 2026.
He was the beloved husband of Theresa A. (Carlino) Sullivan, with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year.
Born in Somerville on May 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Patrick J. Sullivan and the late Margaret G. (Joyce) Sullivan, and stepson of the late Alice V. Sullivan.
Donald was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville High School.
Prior to his retirement, he proudly served as a firefighter for the City of Somerville.
In his retirement years, he loved health and physical fitness activities including workouts at the gym and taking long walks. In addition, he enjoyed reading the daily newspaper with a coffee and traveling with his wife to Florida and New Hampshire.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Donald P. Sullivan and his wife Joanna, of Wilmington and Timothy Sullivan, of Tewksbury: three grandchildren, Savannah S. Raffi and her husband Nick, Gregory D. Sullivan and Colton P. Sullivan. He was the brother of Joyce Quinn and her late husband Frank, of Stoneham, the late Patrick Sullivan and his late wife Joan and the late Kevin Sullivan and his surviving wife Marie.
Donald leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Monday, April 6th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, April 7th, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org
