
CHICOPEE – Suzanne J. “Sue” (Szady) Morrissette, 78, of Fairhaven Apartments in the Fairview section of Chicopee and a longtime resident of the Sandy Hill section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 26, 2026. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on December 15, 1947, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred and June (LaBare) Szady. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church and a longtime communicant of Saint Patrick Church, both in Chicopee. She worked for many years at K & M electronics in West Springfield. She was a member of the Fairview Sportsmen’s Club where she was an organizer of the weekly Turkey Shoots. She loved to play bingo and was an avid card player. Most of all, her greatest joys came from her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Joseph “Jerry” Morrissette who was Called Home on May 5, 2009. She leaves her four loving and devoted children, Michelle Raney and her husband, Timothy, Marlene Sandora, Renée Poreda and her husband, Daniel, and Joseph Morrissette, Jr. and his partner, Christine Lapinski; her five dear siblings, Michael Szady and his wife, Carol, Patricia Wiles, Steven Szady, Sharon Bessette, and Alfred Szady; her eleven cherished grandchildren, her four cherished great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear sister, Dineen Wieczorek. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
