Raymond “Ray” Medeiros, 83, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose steady presence and quiet warmth touched everyone who knew him. For more than 60 years, he shared a deep and enduring love with his beloved wife, Claire (Brault) Medeiros. Together, they built a life rich in shared adventures and simple pleasures—traveling the world, enjoying dinners out, and settling in to watch old movies. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, partnership, and lifelong love.
Ray took great pride in his 37-year career as a pharmaceutical salesman with Roche, a role that reflected his strong work ethic, dedication, and genuine ability to connect with people. Just as he was committed to his career, he was equally devoted to his family. As a father, he offered guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout his children’s lives. Becoming a grandfather brought him immense joy, a role he embraced with deep affection and pride.
In his free time, Ray found happiness in woodworking, creating meaningful pieces that will remain lasting reminders of his care and craftsmanship. He was also committed to his community, proudly serving 33 years on the Westport Board of Appeals. Ray cherished time spent with friends—whether playing cards, meeting for coffee or lunch, or staying active at the gym. One of his long time dreams was fulfilled when he purchased a Thunderbird, the car he had admired since his teenage years. During the summer months, he drove it as often as he could, with Claire riding alongside him.
Ray is survived by his wife, Claire; his son, Paul Medeiros (wife Laurie); his daughter, Laurie Taber (husband Alexander); his son Gregg Medeiros (wife Darlene); his daughter, Darlene Moss; his grandchildren Samantha Medeiros and Max Taber; his brother Ronald Medeiros (wife Connie); and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents John Medeiros and Evangeline (Ambra) Medeiros.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home, Westport from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. immediately followed by a brief funeral service at 11:30 A.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
