
Wendell Marchant, 81, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Mason Paulk will give the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Mr. Marchant was born January 22, 1945, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Cledis & Irene Fowler Marchant. He began working on the family farm at a young age and was always tinkering with a small engine or his motorcycle. He retired from Irwinville Peanut & Grain where he worked for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially eliminating the armadillos in his yard. He was an avid reader and spent many hours in his yard tending to his flowers. He attended Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters: Sharon Poole & Neal of Fitzgerald and Wendy Paulk & Tony of Ocilla; grandchildren: Justin Poole & Kathy, Tyler Poole & Ashley, Nicki Lathrop, Mason Paulk & Chloe, and Sarah Grace Paulk; great-grandchildren: Harli, Kaylie, Dixie Ray, Avery, Reid, Weston, M.K., and Gunner; brother, Randall Marchant & Carol of Doerun; sister, Donna Israel & Martin of Statesboro; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Marchant of Sumner; and two sisters by love: Shirley Johnson and Rita Newell, both of Irwinville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen McGee Marchant; a brother, Wayne Marchant; and a sister, Carol Thompkins & John.
