A Celebration of Life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Ike Thomas and the Rev. Dr. Steven Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church on Saturday.
Born June 6, 1941, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the third of seven children, to the late Warren and Helen Wright Allem, Faith moved many times in her young life before meeting and marrying her husband Richard in Dayton, Tennessee on June 3, 1959. She graduated from William Jennings Bryan College and began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, all the while caring for their growing family of four children. The family moved to Tifton, Georgia in 1971, followed by their move to Ocilla, Georgia in 1972.
Faith lived a life of devoted service. She was an active member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwinville, Georgia. She loved her Lord Jesus, faithfully teaching Bible study and Sunday school to adults and youth alike, and being active in the Gideon ministry in her later years. She shared her God-given gift of music by blessing countless hearts through her beautiful piano playing at church services, weddings, and funerals.
She also served her community through her long career as a middle school teacher where she patiently guided, encouraged, and inspired countless students, helping them grow not only in knowledge but in confidence and character. She invested decades in the Irwin County School System, where she was known especially for teaching middle-school math and making learning tangible. In one unforgettable lesson, she led a campaign to collect one million pennies—not just to raise funds, but to help students grasp what “a million” really looks like. She also was a mentor and example to many of the other teachers because of her experience and dedication to the students. She retired in June 2000.
Above all, Faith faithfully and lovingly served her husband, children, and grandchildren. She always had a listening ear, a word of encouragement and a way of reminding them that God is faithful. She was a steady foundation of love and support, and praying for her family was something she gave dedicated time and attention to. Her life reflected God’s love. All who knew her were blessed through her words and actions. Quick to hug and slow to judge, she made people feel seen, known, and deeply loved, extending grace and kindness wherever she went. Faith will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
