Robert A. Bennett, 88

Dateline: North Easton, MA

Robert A. Bennett, age 88, of North Easton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving and adoring family on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Janet I. (Montminy) Bennett, to whom he was happily wed for forty-one years.

Born in Quincy, MA on February 25, 1938, he was a loving son of the late Albert and Mary (Chandnoit) Bennett.

Bob grew up in the Houghs Neck neighborhood of Quincy and at an early age, developed a lifelong love and passion for the ocean. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member and reservist in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 89 in Mauston, Wisconsin.

A resident of North Easton since 2006, Mr. Bennett formerly resided in Mansfield for over twenty years, and prior to retiring was the proud owner of Wellesley HVAC from 1988-2012. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and also served as a former Eucharistic Minister while a resident of Nashua, NH and in North Easton was a long-standing Trustee at Golden Oaks, where he and Janet made their home.

Bob treasured the times spent with his loving family, especially teaching all his grandchildren to swim and other life lessons. He and his wife Janet enjoyed trips of adventure around the world, taking walks and making puzzles. He loved big band music, was proud of serving in the Coast Guard Band, playing the clarinet and saxophone and dancing with Janet, anywhere, anytime.

Bob’s other hobbies included cruising the Caribbean, being an avid reader on the subjects of history, ships and planes, as well as swimming, boating and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.


In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted Children, Cheryl Auwaerter and her husband Albie of Londonderry NH, Darlene McKay and her husband Michael of Canton, MA
Kimberly Dalton and her husband Scott of Easton, MA and Hal Plant and his wife Kimberly of Mansfield MA. He was the cherished grandfather of Markus Auwaerter and his wife Sarah of Manchester, NH, Monika Auwaerter and her husband David Marston of Hooksett, NH Katharine McKay and her husband Christopher Caron of Walpole, MA, Megan (McKay) Ohlson and her husband Zack of Quincy, MA, Devan McKay of Norwood, MA, Michael J. McKay and his wife Nicole of Millis, MA, Trevor Dalton of Easton, MA, Logan Plant of Mansfield, MA and the great grandfather of Lukas Marston, Claire Marston, Connor Ohlson, John Ohlson, Elise McKay and two more on their way. He was the dear brother of the late Albert W. Bennett and the late Paul A. Bennett.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Coast Guard at the conclusion of services and burial will take place privately at a later date.
