Frances S. Vance

Frances S. Vance, 103, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Sugar Fork Crossing.
She was born on October 10, 1922 in Monroe County, Arkansas, the daughter of Gordon and Mary Lena (Covey) Summitt.
Frances was an elementary school teacher, teaching fourth grade for 28 years and retiring in 1983. Most of her teaching time was spent at Jackson Township School. She was a member of Lone Oak Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Women, Auxiliary of Gideons, and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her four children, Frances Merrillyn Vance, Jean Ann (John) Burcham, Harry Patrick Vance all of Anderson, and Paul ( Beth) Vance of Dale, Indiana; four grandchildren, Leslie Marie Ferguson, John Gordon Ferguson, Paula Frances (Terry) Prather, Brian (Anna) Vance; seven great grandchildren, Ryan Prather, Lena Cundiff, Tera Kate Prather, Mara Frances Prather, Max Vance, Amelia Vance and Julia Vance; brother, Gordon (JoAnn) Summitt Jr.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill L. Vance, whom she married on December 27, 1942, her parents and six siblings.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 1PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will also be held on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 11 AM
