Obituary

Richard F. Iannaco, age 83, of Methuen and a former longtime resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully with his family by side at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, Saturday, March 14, 2026, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Rita J. (DiIanni) Iannaco, together they shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Cambridge he was the son of the late Modostino and Lena (Marzano) Iannaco.

Richard was raised and educated in Cambridge. He was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School and went to further his education completing 2 years at electrical trade school at the Massachusetts Radio and Electronics School in Boston. Richard proudly served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for six years during the Vietnam era. Upon his honorable release from the National Guard, he owned and operated, along with his brother Robert, Roma's Delicatessen in Newtonville for many years. From 1977 to 1985 he was a route salesman for Thomas' English Muffins in the Manchester, New Hampshire area where served many loyal customers and fostered some great friendships. In 1985 he took a position as a Postal Clerk in Peabody with the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2006. Never one to sit idle, Richard went on to work as a Sales Associate at Home Depot for a number of years following his retirement from the Post Office. Richard possessed an amazing work ethic and willingness to do whatever needed to be done to provide for his family. Richard was a talented electrician and throughout his whole adult life he was always doing side jobs as an electrician to help friends and customers alike.

Richard loved the ocean and spent many summers at Hampton Beach with family from when he was a young boy to adulthood. He also enjoyed in more recent years spending the spring and fall seasons in Ogunquit, ME with Rita and his family. In his leisure time Richard was passionate fan of the New England Patriots and was a proud season ticket holder for over 24 years. He also looked forward to spending time with his friends, playing cards and pool. However, Richard's greatest joy and focus in life was his family. Nothing made him happier than to be able to provide for them and to be surrounded with them making memories that will be cherished.
