G. W. Moorman, 80, of Tifton died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Rev. Ronnie McCaskill and Rev. Hayward Tomblin will officiate with burial to follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic rites to be held at the gravesite. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Moorman was born on March 20, 1926 in Tift County and was the son of Kellis Moorman and Lula Ford Moorman, both deceased. He was a retired farmer and a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he was also an active deacon. He was a charter member and treasurer of the Tiftarea Academy Board, member of the Tift County ASC Committee; member for over 50 years of the Tift County Masonic Lodge. Mr. Moorman was a loving husband, father and Papa G.
Mr. Moorman is survived by his wife, Veda Gates Moorman of Tifton; one son, Danny Moorman of Pelham; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Richard Carter of Tifton, Becky and Glen Langley of Tifton and Missy Moorman of Tifton; two sisters, Frankie McCaskill of Camilla and Lois Golden of Omega; nine grandchildren, Stacy Ring and her husband, Andy, Kim Barfield, Kay Lupo and her husband, Gary, Sonya and Felicia Moorman, Josh and Tiffany Roberts, Zane Moorman and Zalana Cromer; and five great grandchildren, Carter and Alli Ring, Britney Barfield, Hayden Hatfield and Garritt Lupo.
