
WEBSTER – Michael Mahan, 89, died Thursday, March 12, 2026 in Lanessa Extended Care Facility after a period of declining health. His wife of 50 years, Claire A. (Cournoyer) Mahan, died in 2008.
He leaves 3 children, Michelle M. Ford of Holden, and Mark J. Mahan and Jason R. Mahan, both of Webster; 4 grandchildren, Zachary Ford and his wife Rebecca of Holden, Stefani Ford of Webster, Kimberli DiMascio and her husband Jared of Seekonk, and Kristin Maforti and her husband Nick of Wethersfield, CT; 4 great-grandchildren, Chase, Liam, Claire and Riley; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Agnes “Candy” Davis of Webster whom he helped raise; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Maryann in 1965 and by his brother Neal Mahan last August.
He was born on March 8, 1937 in Webster, the son of Joseph and Ruth (Boelter) Mahan and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1956.
Mr. Mahan was a patrolman on the Webster Police Department for many years. He also owned and operated Webster Masonry from 1970 until his recent retirement.
He was a member of the 200 Sportsman’s Club for over 60 years. He belonged to the TSKK where he was once on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A graveside service in Mount Zion Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
