Obituary

August 22, 1973 – March 6, 2026

Michael “Mike” James Klotz was born on August 22, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026, in Moorpark, California.

Mike spent the last 30 years working as a general contractor and started his own business about 25 years ago. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in providing for his family and building a good life for them.

Outside of work, Mike loved spending time with his kids and being outdoors. Some of his favorite moments were going to the desert to camp and ride dirt bikes, heading to the river or lake with the boat, and working on his motorcycles, cars, and remote control toys. He also went to the gym every day and enjoyed staying active.

Mike was a very social person who made friends wherever he went. Trips to the gym with him often took longer than expected because someone would stop to talk every few minutes. People were naturally drawn to him, often feeling like they had known him for years even if they had just met. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued.

He was the kind of friend everyone could count on. Mike was the classic friend with a truck who would help you move, pull you out of the sand or mud, lend a hand when something broke, or simply be there as a shoulder to lean on. He cared deeply about the people close to him and always wanted those around him to feel comfortable and supported.

Mike lived his life for his children, and they were the center of everything he did. Seven months ago, he became a grandfather to his granddaughter Jamie, a moment that filled him with pride and joy. He was already excitedly talking about the day he could buy her her first motorcycle.

He also shared a beautiful and loving marriage with his wife and best friend, Nicole. The two recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a long-awaited trip to the Bahamas, a memory that meant so much to them both.

He is survived by his wife Nicole; his children Paige (28), Dylan (24), and Ryan (20); his granddaughter Jamie (7 months); his son-in-law Tim; his mother Dee; his brothers Don Van Cura and Timothy Ott; his sisters Lonnie Van Cura and Christine Ingle; and many cherished nieces and nephews on both sides. He also shared a special bond with his close friend Scott Narvell and Scott’s family, including his wife Rael and their son Maddox.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents Arlene and James Ott, his grandmother Rita Randall, his father James Ott, his cousin Jimmy Bray, his Uncle Barry, his brother-in-law Kent, and his best friend Henry Munoz.

Mike would want to be remembered as a hardworking, caring, and supportive friend and family man. His presence, generosity, and the many memories he created with those around him will never be forgotten.
