CASCO- Violet May Brown, age 95, passed away peacefully at Country Village Assisted Living in Casco, Maine on March 10th, 2026.
A daughter of the late Alfred and Beatrice (Stone) Gray, Violet was born on April 1st, 1930, in Milo Maine.
As a young girl, Violet attended school in Brownville. During her working years, Violet had various jobs but fell in love with working as a secretary at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, where she would then retire. She loved filling in the birth certificates for all the newborns at the hospital. Violet also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going on walks (she was an avid walker), going camping, riding motorcycles, doing all kinds of yard work in her yard, listening to country music and wearing her cowgirl boots, shirts, outfits and vests.
Violet is predeceased by her parents-Alfred and Beatrice (Stone) Gray, her children-Lorretta and Darlene Grant and her siblings-George Gray, Alfred Gray, Leo Gray, Betty Lancaster, Virginia Grant and Teresa Pearce.
She leaves behind her son- Gerald "Jerry" G. Grant of Texas, her grandchildren- Curtis and Sarah Grant of Texas, several nieces and nephews including her special nieces- Belinda Tripp of Brownville, Maine and Shannon Lancaster, her special nephew- Jon Lancaster and her beloved friend for nearly 30 years- Debby Welch of Limington, Maine, who will all miss the feisty, opinionated and independent nature of Violet.
On Violet's behalf, the family would like to give a special thank you to Biny and the girls from Country Village Assisted Living in Casco, Maine for taking such wonderful care of their "downtown Violet Brown".
