Jeanette E. (Johnson) Souza, 99, of Westport, entered the presence of the Lord on Sunday March 8, 2026 while surrounded by her loving family. She had resided at Hathaway Manor. She was the wife of the late John Souza.
Mrs. Souza was born in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Louis R. and Violet (Northway) Johnson and had been a longtime resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for many years. Jeanette was a devoted follower of Christ. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was very involved there along with the International Church of the Nazarene, both of New Bedford. She also did volunteer work at both churches. Mrs. Souza had a love for collecting antiques and dolls. She was an avid gardener and quilter.
Survivors include her 2 sons: James L. Souza of Dartmouth and John R Souza and his wife Karen of Columbia, MO. her 2 daughters: Judith A Margarida and her husband Steven of Tiverton and Janice E. Cabecinha of Fall River, 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews. 2 brothers; John Johnson and William Johnson both of MN; 2 Sisters Bonnie Silvera and Helen Kalas, of MN.
She was the sister of the late Dennis Johnson, Joanne Armstrong, Carole Rhodes, Louis "Pete" Johnson and James Johnson.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be on Friday, March 27, 2026 at First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford, MA 02740 at 10:00 A.M.
Interment is private.
