Eleanor I. (Sloan) Gordon, 86, of Mansfield died on Monday September 11, 2006 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA She was the beloved wife of the late Wallace J. Gordon, Jr. to whom she was wed to for 42 years at the time of his death in 1982.
Born in Boston, MA on September 12, 1919 she was a loving daughter of the late John B. and Irene C. (Jones) Sloan.
She was educated in Canton schools. Mrs. Gordon was a retired Packer having worked for Swank Inc. in Taunton and Attleboro. She retired in 1990 after 31 years of faithful service. She had formerly worked at Merkens Chocolate in Mansfield for 3 years.
Eleanor treasured the wonderful times spent communicating with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and attending family celebrations. She also enjoyed capturing special moments by taking pictures of her family. She was always eager to start or join in on a conversation and was an avid Patriots fan. She had lived in Mansfield for the past 66 years.
She is survived by her devoted children Wallace J. Gordon, III and his wife Rosalie of Attleboro, Richard A. Gordon and his wife Carol of Mansfield, Janet L. Mason and her husband Pres of Palm Bay, Florida, Robert A. “Bobby” Gordon of Mansfield and the late Paul F. Gordon. She was the sister of the late John Sloan, Paul Sloan, Marion McLaughlin and Gertrude Weber. She was the cherished grandmother of Robert Gordon of Charlotte, North Carolina, Carrie Reich of North Attleboro, Michael Gordon of Attleboro, Lisa Clark of North Attleboro and Amanda Gordon of Mansfield. Also survived by her great grandchildren Alyssa Gordon, Brett Reich, Keegan Brady, Camryn Clark and Catherine Clark as well as her several nieces and nephews.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday September 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held Friday September 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home
