At an early age, Jewell committed her life to Christ and attended Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Leighton, Alabama, where she was baptized under the leadership of Reverend William Ford. Jewell attended Trenholm High School in Tuscumbia, Alabama, where she earned her high school diploma. Shortly after graduation, she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she pursued evening studies at MIT’s Business Administration program and earned her certificate. While living in Massachusetts, she met and later married Leonard Nunley (d. 2012) in Aberdeen, Maryland, on the military base where he was stationed. During their 25 years of marriage, Jewell and Leonard raised six children while residing in Washington Elm sin Cambridge, Massachusetts. After settling in Cambridge, Jewell became a devoted member of St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church, where her faith and fellowship remained an important part of her life. Known for her compassion and dedication, Jewell was cherished by those in her care and highly regarded by her patients.? Those who knew Jewell also knew the simple routines and small joys that brought her happiness. She enjoyed spending time with friends and playing cards on weekends, sharing laughter and fellowship with those around her. In her earlier days, she appreciated the occasional Filet-O-Fish sandwich and a small glass of Johnnie Walker Red. Though she may not have kept up with the latest smartphones or tablets, she always knew how to set the VCR to record her daily soap operas and play casino games on her tablet. A woman of consistency, she often began her mornings with a bowl of oatmeal or Corn Flakes with banana and ended her evenings with a head full of rollers, ready to greet the next day.?
