John E. “Jack” Algeo, 79, of Litchfield, NH passed away Saturday March 7, 2026. Jack Algeo was born on May 12, 1946 in Waltham, Massachusetts, to John and Catherine Algeo, and raised in Lincoln. He graduated from Northeastern University, where he participated in the ROTC program while working at Stop & Shop and completing his co-op rotations. He fondly remembered marching up and down Commonwealth Avenue during his ROTC days alongside his lifelong friend, Richard “Bags” Bagdasarian. Jack later went on to earn his MBA from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University). and served with honor as a Vietnam Veteran, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star.
During college, Jack married the love of his life, Kathleen. He proposed at Benson’s Animal Farm in Hudson, NH. They settled in Litchfield, NH in 1977. Together they raised three children: Donald, Colleen, and Patrick.
In 1986, Jack founded his own company in the basement of his home. Fueled by Kathleen’s burgers, Jack’s indomitable will, and his keen salesmanship, New England Small Tube was born. Jack believed deeply in his employees, and they believed in him. This year, the company celebrated its 40th anniversary—an achievement that stood as Jack’s proudest legacy.
Jack and Kathleen truly made Litchfield their home. Jack was the kind of neighbor who would help you split wood or snow blow your driveway, always ready to share a beer at the picnic table or by the wood stove afterward. He was a dedicated volunteer, serving as a Cubmaster and a coach. He was also deeply involved in local politics and could often be seen holding signs at the polls for his favorite candidates. He was well-known for riding his Moxie horsemobile in local parades and was a fixture at the annual Moxie Festival in Lisbon Falls, Maine. In his free time, he enjoyed family time at his Camp on Lake Winnisquam driving his boat, snowmobiling in the winter and riding his Spyder the rest of the year.
