LIMINGTON- Erica Jean Doughty Merrill, age 67, passed away peacefully at her home in Limington on February 27th, 2026. A daughter of the late Eric and Jean (Grace) Doughty, Erica was born on July 30th, 1958, in Portland, Maine and grew up in Winthrop, Maine.
After graduating from Winthrop High School in 1976, Erica married her first husband-Peter Donle in 1977 and in 1982 moved to Limington to raise a family and build their own home. Throughout her life Erica worked at several veterinary clinics, was an ed tech for 8 years at Bonny Eagle Middle School and retired in 2020 from being an administrator at the Steep Falls Family Clinic for Dr. Rovner for 15 years.
During her lifetime, Erica enjoyed being very active in the outdoors and at the Steep Falls Farmers Market where she did more than just knit socks! She also enjoyed traveling to numerous places such as-Spain, Scotland, California, Colorado and Washington State. She was an adventurous spirit with climbing Mount Katahdin, skydiving and going on an 8-day outward bound trip.
Erica loved making crafts, her several flower gardens, watching the birds, drinking wine and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents- Eric and Jean (Grace) Doughty and her son Tristan Donle of Auburn.
Erica is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years-George Merrill, daughter- Lacey Donle of Libson Falls, her step-children- Rebecca Merrill of Newport News, VA and Jacob (Sarah) Merrill of Jefferson, her grandchildren- Sam Liudvinaitis, Elizabeth Liudvinaitis, Rhys Donle, Ronan Donle, Dominic Merrill and Redmon Merrill, her daughter-in-law- Kaitlin Donle, her siblings- Jerry (Sue) Doughty of Winthrop, Dennis (Debbie) Doughty of Limington, Diane (Steve) Wilson of Hollis, her "twin-cousin" Judy (Peter) Lezon of Limington and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who she leaves behind.
Memorial Visiting hours will be held on March 14th from 1-3pm, concluding with a time of sharing at 3pm at Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street (Rt. 25), Cornish, ME. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com.
