She was the devoted wife of the deceased Kenneth J. Carty Sr. of Dedham for more than 40 years and the loving mother of Kenneth J. Carty Jr. and his fiancé Wilson Huang; and Kevin R. Carty and his wife Staci (Rampino) Carty. She was the cherished “Nana” to grandchildren Shaylin M. Carty, Keegan C. Carty and Aidan A. Carty, all of Mansfield. She is also survived by her sister, Clare Kelly (Sister of Notre Dame) and more than 30 nieces and nephews.

The last of nine children of John Kelly and Mary Waldron from Ireland, she was caring sister to deceased siblings Bernard Kelly, Maureen (Kelly) McCarrick, Mary (Kelly) Walsh, John Kelly, James Kelly, Peter Kelly and Paul Kelly.

She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption in Brookline. She furthered her studies at Bryant and Stratton School of Business, followed by a career in banking.

Before moving to Mansfield, she lived in Dedham for 52 years. She was a spiritual person who showed love for her God with a devotion to her Catholic faith. Over the years, she was a congregant at St. Susanna’s in Dedham, St. Dennis in Westwood and St. Mary’s in Mansfield.

While raising her family in Dedham, she was involved in several community groups. Later, she did volunteer services with hospice, Pine Street Inn and Norwood Hospital.

Christina’s greatest joy was her family and seeing her grandchildren flourish. She also enjoyed travelling with the “Whacky Wanderers” from Dedham and Westwood, visiting Ireland, France, and Italy and cruising to the Caribbean.

In particular, she enjoyed time with her husband on Cape Cod, in Falmouth and Yarmouth, and in particular at the “Carty Cottage” in West Dennis, where they spent many hours enjoying the beach with their children and family and friends.

In her later years, she actively lived at the over-55 community Heron Crest in Mansfield before spending her final few years at the All-American Assisted Living facility in Wrentham, where she was popular face, participating in a variety of activities.
