Obituary



Madeline Theresa (Travaglia) Driscoll, longtime resident of Somerville and Medford, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13th. She was 79. Madeline grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1964.

On October 11th, 1972 Madeline married the love of her life, Edward Driscoll. Madeline and Edward made Ball Square Somerville their home for over 30 years before moving to Medford. Madeline loved walking from home to work in Davis Square. They were happily married for 52 years.

Madeline worked for Elder Services for most of her married life as the assistant office computer technician and secretary to the scheduling of Home Aides. Although Madeline and Ed never had children of their own, her many nieces and nephews kept her busy when they weren’t traveling (which was her favorite thing to do). She enjoyed visiting places like Hawaii, Aruba, and Bermuda.

Madeline will be missed immensely by many and especially by her God daughter Susan who was her side kick and care giver for the past several years, taking her out to her favorite Chinese restaurant Ho Win Palace, in Medford, was her favorite thing to do.

Madeline was the cherished daughter of the late Victor Travaglia and Madeline (Carnes) Ross. She was the dear sister of Carole Burke and her husband Joseph of Medford, Helen T. Meuse and her husband Richard of Melrose, all who have preceded her in death. Madeline was the daunting, loving aunt to Joseph Burke of Tewksbury and his wife Annette and their children Joseph and Steven, Christine Healey of Wakefield and her son Daniel, Robert Smith Jr., of Illinois and his wife Debra and his children, Allison and Jennifer of Billerica. Elaine Cummings of Fremont NH and her husband John and their children Meaghan, Erin and Johnny, Susan Marden of Hooksett NH, and her husband Timothy and their son Jonathan, and the late Arthur T. Meuse and his surviving wife Cara and their children Devin and Kayce of Wendell, NC, and the special cousin of Janis (Carnes) Cheever whom they spent many years enjoying each other’s company, she is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with Madeline’s family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, February 20th, from 11AM to1PM; followed by a funeral service in the funeral home beginning at 1:30 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
