Obituary

Cynthia Mary “Cyndee” Woods-Freeze
November 5, 1946 – February 6, 2026

Cynthia Mary “Cyndee” Woods-Freeze passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. Born at Massachusetts General Hospital on November 5, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of the late George Edward Freeze, originally of Staten Island, NY, and the late Anne (Storkus) Freeze.

Raised in South Boston, Cyndee was a proud graduate of Gate of Heaven High School. She began her professional career at Boston City Hall, where she served as a secretary for several years. She later joined Bay State Milling in Quincy, where she spent the remainder of her career before retiring. While she lived in Quincy for a short time, she was a longtime resident of her cherished home with her husband Kevin, on Courier St. in South Weymouth.

Known for her happy, smiling nature and endless generosity, Cyndee was an avid traveler. Along with her late husband, Kevin Woods (d. 2018), she explored the world, treasuring trips to Rome, Ravello, and Capri, and a beautiful cruise through New Zealand. In her community, she was a mainstay of the Quincy Council on Aging and the “Seaside Stitchers” at the Kennedy Senior Center, where she used her talent for knitting and crochet to craft items for veterans, cancer patients and those in need.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Betty Slabysz of Maynard; three nephews, Paul Slabysz of Maynard, Robert Slabysz of Littleton, and Peter Slabysz and his significant other, Sommer Aweidah, of Medford. She was also the doting and adored great-aunt to Alexa Slabysz.

At Cyndee's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ignatius Church, 28 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 10am. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 148 Brook St, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Cyndee’s honor; children were dear to her heart. stjude.org
