Obituary

Lorraine “Lori” Martha (Putansu) King died peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Henry “Harry” King who died in 2007. Born on July 14, 1930, in Laurium Michigan (Keweenaw Peninsula), she was the daughter of the late Richard R. and Martha V. (Keranen) Putansu.

Lori’s father moved the family to the Detroit area in the early 1930’s for work, when she was 3 years old. Lori met Harry through her brother and they grew up knowing each other through their school years. Both worked at General Motors headquarters in Detroit. They married in 1951 and after briefly living in Highland Park, they bought a home in Madison Heights, MI in 1954. In 1959, Harry received a promotion with Chevrolet and was transferred to Framingham, MA where they moved to Medway purchasing a home on Winthrop Street, living there for the next 13 years. In 1972, they purchased a home on Main Street in West Medway, where Lori lived until 2021 when she moved to the Willows Assisted Living until her passing. Lori was raised in the Lutheran Church throughout her years growing up in Michigan. After moving to Massachusetts, they became members of the West Medway Community Church where Lori was still a member.

Lori enjoyed being a stay at home mom for many years and was a leader in cub scouts, brownies, girl scouts and spent many spring/summer days attending her son’s baseball games through the years. Lori was always up for running around doing errands in her old green 57 Chevy (nicknamed ‘the jolly green giant’) and many trips included going to the Hostess factory outlet in Natick or Waseeka apple farm in Ashland with fun memories of singing, eating apples all the way back home.

Along with being a mother, Lori began working at Framingham Union Hospital from 1970 through the mid 1990’s in the billing department and received a series of promotions that led to her becoming Billing Department Director. She finally retired in the mid 1990’s to be home with her husband, Harry. Lori enjoyed traveling with Harry, and spending fun times with the family.

Lori enjoyed many things in life, especially her family. Her interests were many including bridge, gardening, quilting, sewing and golf. Lori was an avid bridge player, playing both ‘party’ bridge as well as competition bridge with her best friends. She would often be found at the Medway Senior Center playing bridge with her many friends as well as participating in train domino games, going on day trips. She was an avid reader and especially liked to read mystery and suspense novels. She loved her children, grandchildren and was glad to live long enough to meet her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Michael King and his wife Sharon of Mendon, Henry “Hank” King and his wife Jeanette “Jeannie” of Dennis, Laura Roscoe of Jamaica Plain, and David King of Brookline, and her daughter-in-law Patricia “Patty” King of North Brookfield. She was the mother of the late Susan King and Jeffrey King who had recently passed away. Both children were deeply missed by Lori and were always in her thoughts and prayers.

She is also survived by ten grandchildren - Jessica, Susan, Matthew, Sarah, Lauren, Kevin, Harry, Logan, Nathaniel, and Avery and ten great-grandchildren - Brady, Evan, Maren, Lucas, Hadley, William, Fiona, Idaliise, Audrey, and Meredith.

Lori is also survived by two sisters, Idaliise Putansu of Lincoln City, Oregon and Virginia Vairus of Fulton, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Elaine Parducci, Richard Putansu, and Laura Putansu.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com). Burial will take place privately at Evergreen Cemetery in Medway following the service.
