Obituary

Philip Cohen Myrick of Boston, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away while surrounded by his loving family on February 6, 2026. Philip was born on February 19, 1947 to Philip C. Myrick and Blanche Thomas Myrick in Tallahassee, Florida. A Vietnam combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Philip served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division from 1966-1969. Following
his service, Philip graduated from Boston State College with a B.A. in Education. Philip was a dedicated activist and community advocate for tenant rights and housing justice, and worked to establish the Boston chapter of Veterans for
Peace. Philip is survived by his wife, Ana Ruiz-Myrick; his children Celeste Wright, Angie Wright, Kyle Myrick, Tyler Myrick, Annie Baez, Cisnell Baez, Jensi Baez, and Remi Baez; his two grandchildren Tovi Chait and Dylan Quinn; and siblings Phyllis Myrick, Albert Myrick, and Terri Gaston. Philip was committed to the well-being of young people and shared his passion for winter sports as a volunteer snowboarding instructor for Youth Enrichment Services. A motorcycle enthusiast, Philip was a regular rider in Rolling Thunder’s annual rally, Run to the Wall. Philip’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as a father, mentor, and friend.
A wake to honor Philip C. Myrick will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower Street, (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Friday February 20 from 5:30 PM until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Philip’s memory to Veterans for Peace www.veteransforpeace.org
