
Auburn – Steven R. Maher, 70, of Westborough and formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026 in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Westborough after a long battle with Parkinson Disease.
Born in Worcester, Steven was the seventh child of the late John and Margaret (Hill) Maher.
He graduated from Auburn High School, received a B.A. from Nichols College, Master’s Degree Anna Maria College and a Law Degree from Massachusetts School of Law. Steven also had a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) Certification and retired from Dean Foods in 2017.
Steven had a love of reading and writing and was the Co-founder / Editor of the Auburn Magazine. Additionally, he contributed to several area magazines focusing on political commentary and book reviews.
He is survived by his siblings, John Maher Jr., and his wife Lenice of Hyannis Port, MA, Sharon Anson of Houston, TX, Neil Maher, and his wife Ellen of Auburn, MA, Julianne Daniels, and her husband Rick of Vero Beach, FL, David Maher, and his wife Susan of Hyannis Port, MA and Tricia Maher, wife of Kevin Maher who predeceased Steven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 9 at 11 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Worcester, with burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 in the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester, prior to his funeral mass.
