Mary G. (York) Micciche-Allen, age 90, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday September 9, 2006 in Danvers after a brief illness. Mary was born in Boston, MA and was the devoted daughter of the late Maude (Donovan) & Emery York.
Mary was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School. In 1942, while working in the Charlestown Navy Yard where she worked on the assembly line for the war effort, she met her future husband Salvatore A. Micciche. They married later that year and spent 38 years together, settling in Medford and raising their family. They owned the Friendly Spa together which was located at the corner of George St. and Winthrop St. They later retired to Hyannis on Cape Cod. Mary was also a member of St. Joseph´s Mother´s Club.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore A. Micciche and the late Clifford Allen. Devoted mother of Martha M. D´Addio and her late husband Robert J. of Tewksbury, Salvatore A. Micciche of Maine, Peter Micciche and his wife Patricia of California, Corinne M. Sztrykler and her husband Jacob of Magnolia. Also survived by 10 loving grandchildren and 5 loving great granddaughters. Sister of Dorothy Chauncy of Hyannis, David York of Yarmouth, Emery York of Natick and the late Raymond York, Emily Deery and Marguerite Gross. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 3 - 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Mary´s name to Catholic Charities, 75 Kneeland St., 8th Floor, Development Office, Boston, MA 02111.
