Olga Elizabeth Fleur Heil, of Tiverton, RI born September 16, 1929, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2026.
Olli is survived by her three children, Tony Szabo and his wife Liz of Crescent City, CA, Emily Peel and her husband Gil of Tiverton, RI and Katy Bishop of Nahant, MA; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She lived a long, eventful life. Her mother Olga Ryf died when she was born. Her father Anton Kurz married Noreen Coughlin when Olli was almost 4. Olli always said with appreciation and love that her Dad married such a good, loving mother for her.
Olli was born in England to an Austrian father. Around the age of 8 or 9, Olli, along with many British children had to evacuate to the countryside to avoid the Nazi bombing in London. Then in 1939, she and her mother had to flee England and make their way from Belgium to Austria dealing with allied bombing. They lived for the duration of WWII in Saltzberg and Vienna. After the war was over, her father died from bad Penicillin due to the aftermath of war. She and her mother made their way back to England where Olli finished high school and studied nursing. She met her former husband Dr. George Szabo, a refugee from Hungary. Her first two children, Tony and Emily were born in London. They then immigrated to the United States, lived in several cities and settled in Nahant, MA where her third child Katy was born.
When her children were grown, she lived on Hilton Head Island, SC with her second husband Joe Heil. When finally living on her own, she supported herself with her sewing business and being an office manager. She loved to ski, play and watch tennis, was a Daschund breeder and loved gardening and walks on the beach. In her 70's she moved to Tiverton, RI to be closer to family. She was a strong, independent, determined woman. Olli was very proud of being super senior tennis champion on Hilton Head. Most importantly was her strong Christian faith. She attended Pacific Union Congregational Church in Westport, MA and a Celebration of Life will be held there and announced at a later date.
