Obituary

Ruth Ann Dye
February 5, 1944-January 27, 2026

Ruth Ann Dunbar Dye, age 81, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Anderson, Indiana, from natural causes.

Ruth Ann was born on February 5, 1944, in Anderson, Indiana, the youngest child of Rollie Dunbar and Mildred (White) Dunbar Rushton. A lifelong resident of Anderson, she remained deeply rooted in the community she loved throughout her life.

She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and later from Porter Business College. Ruth Ann dedicated many years of hard work to Fisher Guide, from which she retired, and was a proud member of Union 663.

A woman of strong faith, Ruth Ann faithfully attended Lindberg Road Church of Christ. She was actively involved in the women’s auxiliary and weekly bible study, living her faith through service and action. She made many meaningful and lifelong friendships here.

Ruth Ann lived an active and generous life. She enjoyed bowling and traveled with the AWBA Bowling Association, finding joy in both the sport and the friendships it brought. Known for her independence and assertive spirit, she was also deeply kind-hearted and charitable. She volunteered extensively with youth, including summer camps, and was consistently involved in fundraising and service efforts. Her volunteer work included the Associates of Anderson Christian School and St. John’s Hospital, among many others. Helping others was not something she did occasionally—it was simply how she lived.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Mildred Dunbar; her siblings, Normajene Williams, Ethel Lorraine Allen, Reba Garrett, and Dearl Dean Dunbar; and her nephew, Larry Michael Garrett.

Ruth Ann is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Fred Probst of Florida; Linda Garrett and Brad (Susan) Garrett, both of Nevada; Dearl (Carolina) Dunbar of Texas; and Deena (Ivan) Miller of Wyoming.

Ruth Ann will be remembered as a hardworking, faithful, and deeply giving woman whose life reflected strength, devotion, and compassion. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her service, faith, and generous spirit.

The family generously thanks Ruth’s neighbors and friends for the care and attention they gave to her throughout her life, especially in her final years.

Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park near the cross, where Ruth Ann will be laid to rest near many beloved family members. A gathering for a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Volunteer Auxiliary at St. John’s Hospital in Ruth Ann’s memory, as this was an organization she was earnestly connected to.
