Mary Elizabeth Welch (Aloise), beloved wife of the late Robert Welch, of Medford passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness on January 27th 2026 at the age of 95.
She was the daughter of the late Mary Scicchitano and Emilio Aloise, Sister of the late William and the late Domenic Aloise, Sister of Carol Devitt and her late husband Michael, Sister of Frannie Maccarrone. Beloved mother of Diane O’Brien and her late husband Richard O’Brien, the late Maureen Brinkley and her husband Vernon Brinkley Junior. She is survived by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She built a long career in her community through Anthony’s banquet hall appreciated by coworkers and friends alike for her strong work ethic, warm hospitality, and reliability. She was recognized by many through her years of serving families during their most cherished celebrations. After a lifetime of work she enjoyed the relaxation of retirement. As the matriarch of a large family she felt the most blessed being around loved ones. She’s resting eternally in peace with her beloved husband, enjoying “just a half cup of coffee”.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary’s life will be held at Immaculate Conception Parish at 600 Pleasant Street in Malden on Friday, February 6th 2026 at 10am. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
In lieu of wake services the family asks that you honor Mary by donating to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation.
