Rafael Martinez (85) of Brockton passed away peacefully at home on January 29th, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Maria Martinez, with whom he shared more than 33 years of marriage.
Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, Rafael was the son of the late Hermógenes Martinez and Juana Echavarria. He worked for many years as a machine operator and was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dedication to his family.
In addition to his beloved wife Maria, Rafael is survived by his children: Rafael Lima, Carlos Lima, Vera Alves, and the late Alfredo Lima, who passed away in 2020. He was a proud grandfather to Patrick Monteiro, Stephanie Gomes, Stephanie Lima, Claudette Nascimento, Neyma Lima, Juary Lima, and Rui Lima. He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and extended family members who will forever cherish his memory.
Rafael was known for his gentle and loving nature. A sweet and quiet soul, he found joy in life’s simple moments. He especially cherished sitting by the window of his home, admiring the beauty of nature, and taking peaceful walks.
Visitation will be held in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Saturday, February 7th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Cremation to follow.
