BELMONT ---- Douglas Peter Merkwan, 67, of Magnolia Lane, passed away at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Doug was born on December 18, 1958, in Laconia, the son of Leonard Merkwan and Aileen (LaCasse) McLetchie.
Doug graduated from Gilford High School then from Laconia Vocational School with an associate’s degree in electronics. He enjoyed collecting antique electronics; radios, TV’s, stereo systems, etc. He also enjoyed a good game of foosball, volleyball, cribbage and rummy.
Doug spent most of his time repairing anything electronic but especially computers and radios. You could also find him exploring old class VI roads in any 4-wheel drive vehicle. He was the go-to guy to ask about the best food around and all of the good places to eat.
Doug is survived by his brother David Merkwan, sister Donna Merkwan, niece Kristen Merkwan and nephew Adam Merkwa n. In addition to his parents, Doug is predeceased by his brother Dennis Merkwan.
A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH.
