
LIMINGTON- Leon Emile Lucier, 85, of Limington, Maine, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, honesty, and deep devotion to his family.
Born on November 17, 1940, in Limerick, Maine, Leon was the son of Wilma and Joseph Lucier and a graduate of Limerick High School. He later moved to Connecticut, where he began his career as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney. In 1971, he returned home to Maine with his family and continued his career at GTE Sylvania in Standish, where he worked for many years.
A true man of many trades, Leon could build or repair just about anything. He built three homes himself and took great pride in becoming a self-taught land surveyor, reflecting his determination, intelligence, and strong work ethic.
Leon enjoyed the outdoors and later in life became an avid hunter. He loved camping, traveling, and snowmobiling with his family and took great pride in teaching his children to ski. He especially enjoyed bow hunting. Known for his sharp wit and stubborn streak, Leon was also deeply loyal and loving toward those closest to him.
Leon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosemary Lucier; his twin brother, Leonard; his brothers, Urban, Maurice, Albert, and Roy; and his grandson, Royce Benner.
He is survived by his children, Rose Pinkham and her husband Philip, Mary Benner and her husband Curt, and Leonard Lucier and his wife Stacy.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chelsea Cormier and her husband Chaz, Miranda Emmons and her husband Chris, Phil Pinkham and his wife Kim, Amber Parsons and her husband Joe, Barry Lucier and his wife Courtney, Blake Lucier and his wife Shelby, Brant Lucier and his wife Brittany, Lindsey Hanas, and Randy Hanas, along with 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Following Rosemary’s passing, Leon lived at Pine Point Center for six and a half years, where he became affectionately known as the “Bingo King.” The family extends special thanks to Linda Short, known as the “Deer Lady,” and the Pine Point community for their friendship and care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday Feb. 3rd from 3 - 4 PM, followed by a 4 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.
Leon will be remembered for his strength, skill, humor, and the lasting foundation he built for his family.
