James "Joe" Joel Haire, Sr., 57, of Tifton, died Friday, September 8, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals. Rev. T. Manuel Johnson will officiate with burial to follow in Eureka Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. Nephews and cousins will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Haire was born on December 14, 1948 in Pelham and was the son of James "Boe" P. Haire, who died in 1977, and Evelyn Gay Haire, who died in 1993. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Bobby E. Spillers, who died in 2001. He was an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Haire is survived by one son, James Joel Haire, Jr. of Atlanta; three brothers, Steve Haire of Washington, Missouri, Ronald E. Haire of Gaffney, South Carolina and Dennis L. Haire of Jacksonville, Florida; and one granddaughter, Abbigail Lee Haire of Atlanta.
