Obituary

Vincenza “Vina” R. (Della Penna) Quinn
1929 – 2026

Vincenza “Vina” R. (Della Penna) Quinn, a beloved mother and cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, just one week shy of her 97th birthday.

Born on January 14, 1929, in Boston’s North End during the hard times of the Great Depression, Vina was the daughter of Francesco and Mary (Oliva) Della Penna, Italian immigrants who instilled in her the values of hard work, family and resilience that guided her throughout her life. Her upbringing in that tight-knit community shaped her into a woman of immense resilience and deep cultural pride.

As a mother, she was a steady source of guidance, comfort and unconditional support, always placing the needs of others before her own. While raising four children, she earned a degree in Business Administration. She went on to work through her life as an Administrative Assistant at the West Roxbury Mental Health Center and the Carney Hospital before retiring at the age of 73.

She was the devoted mother of Anthony F. Egitto and his wife Kathleen A. of Holbrook and Cheryl A. (Cartwright) Kearney and her husband Michael J. of East Bridgewater. She was also the mother of the late Karen M. (Egitto) Robles of East Bridgewater and the late Frank E. Cartwright of Taunton.

Known for her great sense of humor, Vina brought laughter and light to every gathering. She was dedicated to keeping physically fit, and had a vibrant spirit that never stopped moving to the rhythm of the music she loved. Her greatest joy was her role as a matriarch; she was the cherished Nana to seven grandchildren and doting Gigi to eight great-grandchildren. She found great joy in cooking Italian meals and entertaining her family in her Stoughton home creating a place filled with love, laughter and unforgettable gatherings. In her later years, she found constant companionship and comfort in her precious Pomeranian, Liam, who was her shadow.

A woman of many talents, Vina’s hands were rarely still. She was a craftswoman who found peace in painting, sewing, crocheting and ceramics. She had a lifelong love of fashion and elegance, enjoyed all kinds of music and especially delighted in polka and ballroom dancing – a passion that reflected her joyful spirit and love of life.

A longtime resident of Stoughton before moving to East Bridgewater, Vina was predeceased by her husband, John T. Quinn of Stoughton, her brothers, Frank T. Della Penna of Roslindale and Albert F. Della Penna of Boston.

She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, strength, and love that will be carried on by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Vina’s Life will be planned for family and friends.
