Jane Mirabello Ford passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice on Tuesday, January 20th. She was 80. Raised in Somerville, Jane was the daughter of the late John and Eileen (Davis) Mirabello.
Jane graduated from St. Mary’s Schools and began a life time career in public service. Jane lived most of her life in Medford and in the early 1970’s she pioneered and led a program for the removal of lead paint in homes in the City of Medford. Her leadership style, organizational skills and unique ability to bring the best out in others caught the eye of Governor Francis Sargent, who added her to his staff. Jane later served on the administrative staff off Auditor Joe DiNucci for many years. While Jane’s professional skills were always evident in the workplace, her sense of loyalty, compassion, sensitivity and zest for life were equally evident in her personal life. For Jane it was all about family. She never tired of having her children, grandchildren, great-grand kids, sisters and cousins around and at the house. She enjoyed cooking and getting people together to have a good time. Jane loved her many friends and always cherished time with them. Jane grew up catholic and later in life experienced the spiritual life at the Arch Street Shrine which allowed her faith to crystalize in a beautiful way. She faced her illness with courage and determination. She was supported by her loved ones and stayed committed to them until the end.
The beloved companion of George Cangiano, Jane was a loving mother to John Ford, Jr., Jaime Ford and Jill Doyle. She was a loving Grammy to 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Ann Cunningham and the late Marguerite Soccorso, Eileen Blake and Carol Cahill.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 27th, from 4 – 8 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
