Obituary

Tommy E. Cottle, 84, of Ty Ty passed away Monday, January 19, 2026, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the Worship Center at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with Rev. John Smith officiating. Mr. Cottle will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the Worship Center of Ty Ty First Baptist Church.

Mr. Cottle’s sons and grandsons, Dusty Cottle, Tye Cottle, Todd Veazey, Chase Cottle, Charlie Cottle, Reid Cottle, Cody Cottle, Sam Cottle, Chance Veazey as well as Jamie Eubanks will serve as pallbearers.

Born July 10, 1941, in Tifton, Mr. Cottle was the son of the late John Thomas Cottle and Jewel Sumner Cottle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Davidson Cottle; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle Cottle and Mitzi Cottle Lassiter; a brother, Donald Cottle; and three sisters, Linda Warren, Sarah Geraldine Cottle and Gwen Spurlin.

Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Cottle Insurance in Tifton. He was a member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church, where he and his late wife served as Youth Ministers for many years. He was a member of Springhill Country Club, where he also served on the Board. He was also a member of the Tifton Sertoma Club.

Mr. Cottle loved coaching and led the Tifton Tomboys Softball Team to six national championships, which led to him being inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame. During his college days, he played basketball for the ABAC Stallions.

Mr. Cottle is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tye and Maria Cottle and Dusty and Michelle Cottle, all of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Darby and Todd Veazey of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Frankie and Marianna Cottle of Ty Ty; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bobby Simpson of Tifton; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Carly Veazey, Chance and Molly Veazey, Cody and Rebekah Cottle, Sam Cottle, Brooke and Henry Rowling, Chase and Dove Cottle, Charlie Cottle and Reid and Emma Cottle; and four great-grandchildren, Ridley Rowling, Luke Cottle, Ford Veazey and Merritt Cottle.
