Obituary

Angelina (Angela/Angie) RoseMarie Giannelli passed away peacefully at the
Life Care Center in Stoneham during the early morning hours of Friday, January
16, 2026. She was 90, raised and resided in Medford for 89 years. For the past
year, she was cared for at the Life Care Center of Stoneham/Assisted Living.
Angela was the daughter of the late Domenico and Immaculata (Baldassare)
Giannelli.

Named after her maternal grandmother from Italy and mother, Angela was
proud how she acquired her name and of her Italian background. She loved
hearing from her sister Lucy how her parents knew each other from grade
school in Italy, working on a farm in Montefalcione, Italy, the background how
each parent ended up in America and how they got married. Each time Angela
heard these stories from her sister, it was as if she heard the stories for the first
time with tears in her eyes and listening so intently asking many questions.
Angela spent 89 of her 90 years in the same house with loving memories,
pictures and her love for her home cemented in time, always reflecting on the
“;goodness” she had growing up with her 5 siblings, parents, many relatives and
how “lucky” she was to still be living in her beloved home.

Angela was homebound for six years, cared for by her dedicated nephew
Steven Catino handling all her medical and daily needs. Angela found safety,
security and strength staying in her home for as long as she did, always stating
how happy she was to still be living in her home.

Her adoring Godchild RoseAnn Giannelli of The Villages, Florida called and
visited Angela frequently, mailing and spoiling her Godmother with pastry, fruit
delicacies and stylish fashions for various seasons. Angela would frequently
comment how lucky she was to have a Godchild so caring and always very
generous toward her.

Angela’s work career included the Boston Naval Shipyard in the personnel unit
performing a range of office support work; retiring from the Department of
Defense with nearly 40 years of federal service performing accounting
functions. She was honored to have worked as long as she did.

Angela leaves her final sibling Lucy Catino and late husband Patrick of
Stoneham, predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Louis and Ethel
Giannelli of Boxford, Joseph and Joan Giannelli of W. Willington, CT, Fred and
Dolores Giannelli of Reading and Ralph and Claire Giannelli of LasVegas, NV.
She was the aunt to Sandra and her husband Walter Dabransky, Roseann

Giannelli and her wife Janet King, Karen Feldman, Dina Greenwald and her
husband Marty, Fred Giannelli, Jr., Steven Catino and his wife Theresa M.
Catino, Patrick H. Catino II and his wife Lucinda, Domenic Catino and his wife
Lisa, Michelle Soucek, Elisa Giannelli, Michael Giannelli and his wife Diane,
Karla Gilkerson and her husband John and each of their families as well.
Angela was also predeceased many years ago by an infant nephew/Godson
Patrick P. Catino, as well as her niece/Goddaugher Theresa L. Catino - always
commenting to the very end of her (Angela’s) life that she will never forget
Theresa and the bond they had living in the same house in Medford. Angela is
also survived by many great and great - great nieces and nephews, a few
remaining first cousins including Lucille Gumbleton and Carol Giannelli both of
Medford as well as cousins John and Connie Casali of Medford, Rosemary
Sammarco of Reading and Anthony Sammarco and several others. Angela
also leaves her dearest friends of many, many years, Ruth and the late Arnie
Springer of Saugus, MA, both who included Angela in many years of gatherings
and friendships. She kept a small circle of friends very close.

While at the Life Care Center of Stoneham/Assisted Living Facility, Angela
participated and engaged almost daily with many planned games, activities,
crafts, exercises, socials and other activities and events. Her favorite was
Bingo, always looking for the big win! A special thanks to some of the most
dedicated workers at the facility including Dupree, Michiline, Junior, Marie,
Ketty, Bertrude, Rachel as well as the management team and many others.
