Obituary

John R. Angelone, 80, of Finne Road, Johnston, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence.

He was the husband of Shirley A. (DelToro) Angelone, with whom he shared nearly 52 years of marriage.

Besides his beloved wife, John is survived by his two daughters, Kristen Angelone and her fiancée, Pamela Penwarden of Milton, Massachusetts, and Stephanie Rossomando and her husband, Anthony, of Colchester, Connecticut. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Olivia, Makenzie, and Owen Rossomando, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Anthony Angelone of Glocester and Thomas Angelone of Smithfield.

Born and raised in Providence, John was the son of the late Eligio and Anna (Laudini) Angelone. He later settled in Johnston, where he raised his family and lived for more than 50 years.

John was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence and went on to attend Bryant University, where he earned both a BA in Business Administration and a MBA in Management.

John completed Army basic training in California and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves through 1974.

He went on to enjoy a long and successful career in finance. John worked at Speidel as Controller, Draka USA as Division Controller and 24 years at Banneker Industries as Director of Finance and Human Resources. He was respected for his integrity, dedication, and strong work ethic.

John was an avid tennis player and a longtime member of Fore Court Racquet & Fitness in Cumberland. A devoted Boston sports fan, he followed the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots with enduring enthusiasm and loyalty. He also had a lifelong curiosity and deep interest in meteorology, remaining fascinated by weather patterns and forecasts.

John enjoyed live music, especially Fleetwood Mac, and found great joy in time spent by the ocean—particularly summer days in Narragansett. Summers were made even more special as he hosted family gatherings poolside with an occasional game of bocce.

Once in a while, John also savored a good pipe or cigar.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation will be 4-7 pm, on Friday, January 23rd at Anderson Winfield Funeral Home.
